CHO-Seals® Conductive Elastomers and O-rings
Sealing Devices offers conductive elastomers consisting of silicone, fluorosilicone, EPDM or flourcarbon-fluorosilicone binders, with fillers of pure silver, nickel plated copper, silver plated aluminum, silver plated nickel, silver plated glass, unplated graphite particles, or nickel plated graphite. Features of the elastomers include outstanding resistance to compression set over a large temperature range. They also meet MIL-STD-810 for resistance to fungus. Lastly, the materials can provide an environmental seal and/or pressure seal.

CHO-Seal® elastomers are available for both military and commercial applications, but excel in aerospace applications. Specialty elastomers are also available for low closure force, waveguide, or corrosive environments.

These conductive seals are available as extruded elastomers, and can be cut-to-length. The available in many profiles including: Hollow or Solid 'D'; Hollow or Solid 'O'; Hollow 'P', rectangle, and many other shapes. Depending on width, they can also be ordered with pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) applied.

Co-extruded strips offer optimal shielding, while providing corrosion protection. When conductive and non conductive elastomers are vulcanized together, they create a techincally superior design for aircraft doors, rack mounted cabinetry, military or commercial communications and many other applications.

Soft-Shield® Low Closure Force Gasketing
Newer electronics often have low-closure forece requirements. The Soft-Shield® family of fabric over foam core EMI shielded gasketing line provides good shielding performance, while eliminating waste and speeding assembly. They are available in many configurations to meet your low closure force needs. Here are a few of the families.

Soft-Shield 1000 -
Knitted wire over foam EMI gaskets.
>70 dB attenuation from 20 MHz to 10 GHz.
Only .35 lb/inch closure force.

Soft-Shield 2000 -
Conductive yarn over foam EMI gaskets.
>70 dB attenuation from 20 MHz to 10 GHz.
< 1 lb/inch closure force.

Soft-Shield 4000 -
Foil/Fabric over foam EMI Gaskets.
>90 dB attenuation from 10 MHz to 1 GHz.

Soft-Shield 5000 -
Conductive jacket over foam EMI.
>90 dB attenuation from 10 MHz to 10 GHz.
< 1 lb/inch closure force.

Metal EMI Gaskets
MESH STRIP EMI gaskets are compressible, all metal strips knitted into rectangular or round cross sections. As spring-like, interlocked loops, they are highly resilient. They are knit from either monel or Ferrex wire. These gaskets offer good aging properties, excellent tensile strength and spring like qualities. Mesh strip gaskets are available in rectangular, round, or double round with fin cross sections.

SPRINGMESH® gaskets are hollow, highly resilient spring gaskets, which offer the advantages of a mesh over core gasket without a core, and recovery of more than 70%. Compression set is less than 30% at 80% compression. They are available as cut to length.

COMBO® STRIP gaskets combine MESH STRIP in parallel with an elastomer weathering strip. Recommended for applications requiring a weather seal in addition to EMI shielding, they are available with high tack, long shelf life adhesive backing . Compression set and closure is in the 25 to 100 psi range, although options are available for sealing pressures as low as 10 psi.

POLASHEET® Gaskets are composite EMI shielding and weather sealing materials of either solid or silicone sponge. Embedded monel or aluminum wires are embedded in the silicone, and oriented perpendicular to the mating flange surfaces to provide EMI shielding. It can be purchased with high-tack pressure sensitive adhesive backing.

SPRING-LINE® Beryllium-Copper gaskets combine high levels of shielding effectiveness with spring finger wiping, and low closure force properties. With high tensile strength, outstanding electrical conductivity, and excellent anti-corrosion properties, SPRING-LINE offers excellent EMI shielding over a broad frequency range.
