POSITION: PRESS OPERATOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To use any one of the following automated presses; Preco, Smart Press, Niagara or Tarps in accordance with Sealing Device’s work instructions for die cutting operation in producing a die cut product to customer specification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review the router for correct material, tooling, press selection and delivery date.
• Set up press with the proper tooling and depth of cut.
• Perform first piece cut and check for proper depth.
• Perform first piece and in-process inspection when required if math qualified, or send to Quality Control for inspection.
• Run the job to produce the correct quantity of product.
• Spot check die cuts during cutting and notify supervisor of any quality or mechanical problems.
• Record accurate times on the router for each job performed.
• Bundle and tag all usable centers with traceability information as required in the work instruction.
• Follow work instructions for each area of the fabrication department.
• Follow all safety instruction.
• Maintain good housekeeping as required.
• Assist in the training of new hires.
• Report quality problems to applicable supervisor.
• Responsible to follow departmental procedures and work instructions as written and recommend improvements as necessary.
• Any other task/activity assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the fabrication system.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires general direction and guidance and has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the following skills including but not limited to die set up, reading and basic math.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the ability to read and understand moderately complex instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is a physically active position requiring the ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours, lift from less than 1 lb. Up to 80 lb. Up to 4X daily, pull from less that 1 lb. Up to 80 lb. Up to 4X daily, carry, grasp, reach, see color variations and see up close.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum requirement for this position is a High School Diploma, GED or vocational degree and 6 months to 2 years of job specific experience.
